Drama Workshop with American Place Theatre
Monday, February 20 - Friday, February 24
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
An opportunity for middle-school and high-school students (ages thirteen through eighteen)
This intensive weeklong workshop builds on APT's Literature to Life program, which is designed to encourage self-expression and develop writing and drama skills. Literature to Life creates a safe environment for risk taking and provides a forum for students to discuss, analyze, and critique the world around them. Teaching artists use a variety of creative drama techniques and educational theater strategies, such as role play, improvisation, teacher in role, process drama, forum theater, free/journal writing, interviews, mantle of the expert, tableaux/still images, games, and much more.
The American Place Theatre, which works regularly with New York City public schools, has been in operation for more than forty years and received thirty Obie awards.
Suggested donation: $250. Lunch included. (Sliding scale and some scholarship available.) Space is limited, so registration is necessary. For more information, call Lynda Kennedy at 212-874-5210. ext 106.
