Each session will start and end with a poem and include a discussion of a novel from the syllabus provided to participants.

The problem of EVIL, its definition and description, its causes and possible "cures," is both very ancient and very contemporary. This discussion-based seminar will examine a variety of theories about evil -- ethical, theological, psychopathological, and social - in the context of actual historical, moral, legal and biographical cases. Discussions will be based upon readings done in advance. Select handout-outs will also be provided.

of seminars and are responsible for acquiring
