Many of its members are inclined to describe Ethical Culture by what it is not – “No God, no supernaturalism, no dogma, no holy books, no holy personalities.” This is often conjoined to a critical attitude to the traditional religions.
But how much better to describe Ethical Culture by what it affirms! This address takes up that challenge. In addition, I will briefly describe in what ways we can understand Ethical Culture as religious and what our stance toward the historical religions might be.
